Honeymoon in Europe : Day 7

Route : Lucerne (via Basel, Belfort, along Burgundy) to Paris.
Today was basically a driving day with no sightseeing at all. We had toilet breaks, lunch stops all along the highway. And we were also given a smooth pass through at the Swiss border with no checks at all.
We arrive into Paris about 4.3opm and checked into a spanking Marriott hotel. The bed were huge with many fluffy pillows and the rooms is very nice. It's a business hotel and so explain the working table in the room.

We didn't joined the optional evening dinner excursion tonight and so the time is our own now. We took a little rest and decided to explore this city. Alvin was very keen to visit Eiffel Tower in the evening and so naturally I was tasked to read the map and find our way there. The nearest so-called place of interest to our hotel is the Monparnasse. After a check with the hotel concierge, it was a good 25 mins walk there. Road names were not seen clearly on the road and so we had to ask around quite a number of times. Trains in Paris is known as Metro in short ad according to the Tour Director, the entrance for such orginal Metro stations are few now in Paris.

And soon we arrived and Montparnasse and saw C & A ! My favourite store in Europe for the moment. And in Paris, without visiting Galleries Lafayette is like you never ried Paris shopping before !

We walked around Monparnasse and soon we were hungry. There's not a restaurant that caught our eyes and finally we set for a chinese restaurant located on a quiet street at the junction. Food was good and since communication is not a problem with the chinese host, we asked for directions to go to the Effiel Tower.

After a hearty dinner, we set off to take the Metro to Effiel Tower. By then, the sky is geting dark. The trains were pretty old and the door is not automatic, you actually have to open the door of the train yourself. Ticket price is by per trip and not based on the number of the stations you take. There are underground stations as well as above the ground. You will never go wrong if you follow the crowd, provided you get off at the right station. Ha ! Eiffel Tower was visible right in front of you after you step off the station.

It was about 10 mins walk from the station to the bottom of Eiffel Tower. Along the way, you'll see many Africans hawkering Effiel Tower keychains, the metal souvenir towers and the changing lights tower throughout the walk. And this further affirmed that you are on the right track ! And soon, the giantic tower unfold right in front of us.

Wow ! It was so empwering I couldn't describe the feeling I had standing at the bottom of the tower, admiring it. It was simply just so beautiful.... ....
We snapped so many pictures and walked a long way across the field trying to take the best pcitures. While was were happily snapping pictures, a loud wow made us turned our heads and saw the whole tower glitters in the dark for a good 15 mins at 10pm. We continued with more picture and by the time we were done, it was already 10.30pm.

We decided to head back to hotel as tomorrow's going to be an early day.

Yes, i agree just by standing under the Eiffel Tower, the feeling is overwhelming. That feeling of romance and wanting to be in love creeps up to you. It is just magical, beyond words.

Lucky you to be on honeymoon to experience this. I was alone there in 1997 and all i could do was to make a phone call home to tell Mummy I miss her and eat an ice-cream under the Tower, all by myself.

That reminds me of my honeymoon. But you seemed to be visiting more places than me. And you remembered each place so well. Amazing.
