Me Forgotten

I'm still in the office, but I MUST BLOG THIS !

Shasha called me this morning to discuss about classroom availability which I intend to loan from TMIS. And we followed on to gossip after 'business' talk. Apparently, they (you know who you are) met up for a evening chill out session last Friday and they realised they had not called me.

Oops ! I can imagined how their reaction like at that time. Hee hee...no one mentioned this even I msn-ed with Fifi over the weekend. I joked with Shasha, 'Ha ha...they may think I will be angry and I ask to have flowers !'

Nevertheless, whether it was a miscommunication or forgotten about me unintentionally or with intention. It doesn't matter.

I like to let my frens know I'm not upset and I won't ask for flowers lah but if you like to send, hee hee hee, I don't mind - but must be edible stuff.

I have ever been in such situation before and it always, 'Oh Shit!' And our gang of frens will 'bah kat' and not to let the person who is being unintentionally left out to know. Ha ha....

And today, I blundered another matter that I have to go 'Oh Shit!'.

We have invited our overseas representing agents to come over and we hold a 1 day product training for them. I've screened through the attendance list making sure I take note of anyone who may have special dietary request.

But.......

I still missed out one. One of our agents from Southern Hemisphere, an island located in the Indian Ocean, is a Muslim. And they lunch was hosted in A CHINESE RESTAURANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH SHIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH SHIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was so embarassed and felt like not being a good host and somehow also made my boss 'lose face'. Worst still, this is the MD of the company. I quickly put in vegetarian spring roll for him and luckily he said he can eat fish, vegetables and seafood. But I noticed he didn't eat much.

The MD left after the lunch citing he need to return back to hotel. I think he feels offended.

I haven't apologise to my boss yet and I'm going to do so tomorrow.

It never crosses my mind that there are people there who are Muslim.

But this also teaches me a lesson to always check for people's dietary requirement and never juge a person by their country. But if everyone is going to tell me that she cannot eat this, he cannot eat this...

Then how ah? How to suit everyone? You tell me.

What is this?

Make a guess.....

It's not a biscuit, mind you.......

PLEASE......It's not a piece of shit also lor !

It's tea leaves ! It's a piece of Pu Er tea leaves that being compressed into like a piece of 'Da Bing' (big biscuit).

It's so nice of Fifi to lug this box of tea leaves for me on a business trip to Kunming some time back. Yes many - time back. This box of tea leaves has been sitting very comfortably in Hougang until her Mimi discover it while they are doing packing. Fifi is moving house - again.

But she still need to take all the credit because it's sp sweet of her to buy me good Pu Er tea leaves when I grumbled to her that my cholestrol is above average.

On the box, it said that the tea is from Dr. Tea - a shop that specifically sell tea leaves from the national (china) House of Tea of Professor ..... Don't 'play play'...got brand one hor....

When I open up, I was 100% puzzled as I never see tea leaves in this big piece before. While I was figuring out how to go about it, Fifi sms-ed me to peel a little bit each time I wanted to make tea and can drink for the whole day. Power lor..... never know it is so interesting.

I thought of smashing all up and keep them in a container. That's me :>

Wired Babies

These are on display at Esplanade now.

Cute little wired babies !!!!

These are the work of a local artist. It look so real and you can see what the artist wanted to show in each piece of work. It is quite amazing and this is just part of the exihibition.

If you happen to be around Marina area, drop by Esplanade to take a look.

SCU Gathering

One of our classmate was so sweet of her to arrange for a gathering for the unofficial alumni of SCU.

It was pretty last minute though but the turnout was pretty good although there were some last minute back out, 13 of us in total.

In fact, we had a hidden agenda for this gathering. 2 of our classmates (Ber & Celest) actually shared the same birthdate, 13 Oct and some of them decided to make use of this opportunity to clelebrate their much belated birthdays.

Disclaimer - This was never the intention of the organiser to organise this gathering although she is one of the birthday person.

Close (classmate) friends of theirs, the Hi 5 ganag decided to buy an 'atas' cake and threw a surprise for them. It's a Royal Chocolate cake from Ritz Carlton, it cost about half a hundred dollars. It was known to be a very rich cake.

Er.....what about the rest of us? Taking into consideration that both of our classmates are quite 'atas' people, looks like anything below LV doesn't fit thier criteria (hee hee), we (or I) decided to pretend never know about this arrangement.

Testified. This cake was really 'powerful'. It not only makes you full immediately (I ate a small piece only), it also need 2 big man and 2 knives to cut and distribute the cakes - while the rest looked on....hee hee

We continued to talked thru the evening and we can really side tracked from dicussing who to arrange for the next gathering to BBQ to planning Celest's wedding and back to gatehring again. We are such good students that we put our studies into 'real' environment use where we will plan a perfect 'cash only' wedding dinner for Celest. If our lecturer has stayed longer with us, he will definitely feel so proud of us, his students !

Finally, those remained behind until 10.30pm were tasked and be part of the next scu gathering unofficial committee member. With me starting the ball rolling, check out the SAFRA bungalow rent out !

Botanic Gardens

It has been 'donkey' years since I last stepped into Botanic Gardens. In fact, I don;t even remember when was that !

I haven't been visiting the gym lately so I thought it will be nice to visit the Garden for a brisk walk or slwo jog on a Tuesday morning, which turned out to be a Public Holiday.

A lot of people were already almost completing their exercise when I reach there about 8.30am. A handful of tourists were already there too, taking pictures with the mini man-made waterfalls located near the ginger garden.

Families with dogs or babies, frequent exercise groups, serious exercise fanatics, are littered all over the garden. I was amused when I began to see groups and groups of tourists walking around the gardens and speaking loudly away in their local language. They somehow don't seems to fit into the picture of relaxationa and tranquility.

Anyway, I spent more time doing slow walk, stop and feed the fishes ......see what my 'ang' is doing.....

He was so busy feeding the fishes and the birds that he totally forgotten he is supposed to be there to exercise ! Oh well, as long as he is enjoying himself.

The fishes seem to be very well-fed. They don't seem to be very hungry or are they just too picky about their food???? Hey, at least my bread got brand, Top One, although I know Gardenia or Sunshine will taste better...... While the fishes are ignoring my bread, a 'giant' began to surface and began gabbing my bread which the fishes refused to eat.

It looks like a turtle, giant turtle.

My 'ang': wow, turtle ! So big, how nice if this is make into herbal soup. Must be very tonic lor !

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Horrible man !

To date, this is one of the few food (meat), I've yet to muscle enough courage to put into my stomach.

Post World War II 'HDB' Flats

Before trooping down to Sim Lim Square to find that DVD player, we had late lunch nearby to Sim Lim at Short Street. It is near to why the famous Rocher Beancurd stall is.

As I walked pass a row of building restoration and construction, these post war 'HDB' flats (I think) caught my eyes! Apparently, someone (HDB ? private developer?) fenced up these 2 blocks of old flats. They give them a good paint and interior renovation, walked is paved and trees are planted. It give me a feeling of living within a small community in a little town somewhere in an 'ang moh' country.

I really like this concept very much. With the fence and a steel gate erected, it transformed these 2 blocks of flats into something so private.

This is not the first time I've seen these types of flats. There are still a plenty near my current neighbourhood. You can still find a good 10-20 such blocks of flats in Tiong Bahru. And they fetch a high resale value. These are actually 3-room flats but their floor area are huge. That's why there is such high demand for them. These blocks are being preserved and they cannot be tear down for further development.

Unfortunately, those located at Tiong Bahru are not tastefully done like these I saw at Short Street. Otherwise, I think it will definitely add a ting of country feel in Tiong Bahru !

The "BEST" DVD Player

Of late, our DVD players (I have 2) are giving us problems. Either it can't detect the disc, or will just 'hang' the disc halfway through the show. This is exceptionally irritating especially if you are watching serials.

Despite buying a local and very reasonably-priced brand of DVD player to watch any 'grade' of discs, the problem still exists. After rounds of 'interviewing' with relatives and disc supliers, we realised all suppliers uses a common brand and model of DVD player. When we brought back disc which we claim is faulty for exchange, ot just work well in their players.

That's the final straw and we decided to get exactly the same model of DVD player. One of the suppliers said that this is (considered) a relatively old model now, it may be difficult to get it in the market. The supplier further added on, if you can get one, you will be very happy and will not watch your discs in fustration anymore. Otherwise, the new models in 51 or 56 also works well.

We trooped down to Sim Lim Square to try our luck. We thought the chances will be better since the smaller shops may still have stock for the one we wanted. We combed level 1 - 4 and finally found the one and only one in a shop on Level 1. We are extremely pleased but never forget to bargain despite we have found the 'treasure'! We paid $145 eventually.

So if you like to change to a new DVD player, you may wish to consider getting a same one as me. Guarantee you can watch all 'grades' of discs without problem.

Happy Deepavali

Today my plan is,

Wake up at anytime I wanted, preferably before 12noon, because -

1) I want to go Post Office to get stamps;
2) Go gym at Great World;
3) Shop for a while at Great World as I haven't been there for some time;
4) Put a cheque in the bank

None of the above was done.

My 'ang', having an early night yesterday, woke up at 8am and insisted I must be awake too. I threw him out of the room and told him to go find his own happy hour and continued to sleep until 9.30am. Again, he disturbed me again and reminded me that today is public holiday - Deepavali !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yah hor, I remembered liao. So Post Office not open, cannot go buy stamp. Cannot go buy stamp, cannot 'on the way' go Great World and complete task 2 - 4. So, I woke up at 10am and we went Balestier for Bak Kut Teh for breakfast. Yum Yum ! So nice ! We went Carrefour at Suntec for some grocery shopping after that. And you know what I did, hee hee..... see below....

A CUP OF BEN & JERRY'S ICE CREAM before I go home !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so satisfied now.

YAWN YAWN, I'm going to take a nap now.

See you later.

The Most Lethal Talisman

You know what is this? Don't trample with me or I will put this on you ! HA HA HA !!!!

Fi and me met up wif Feifei after our community service meeting yesterday. The meeting went on well with laughter. Actually, I didn't do much during the meeting except contibuting to filling up my stomach and giving my humble 1-cent worth's of opinion as and when we go.

As Feifei started his study group discussion and dinner just as we ended out meeting, Fifi and me went shopping and slow walked to Cityhall to meet her after her discussion. We have earlier agreed to retreat to No.5 (pub at Emerald Hill) and during the stroll in citylink. I got to know our poor princess was bulled and back-stabbed by a 'chi ko pek' lookalike monster at workplace, so we are going to be the sponge to listen to her woes.

Finally, our witchery Fifi suggested getting her a voodoo to ward off anymore evil doings for Feifei after downing peanuts, martinis, hoe garden and chicken wings. Both of them insisted I must eat the chicken wings.

Ehhhh.....that was supposed to be mine. But I was just too lazy to eat them though they are extremely delicious, I must say. I just dun want to get my hands oily and was just too lazy to go washroom to wash my hands after that. Or just simply, no craving for it at that moment of time. Both of them psycho-ed me that peanut contribute equal calories at the wings. But it just never moved me. I got determination, not stubborn. Eventually, they finshed up for me !

We left No.5 after a round of peanut fight as I was getting tired and the 2 women who simply dun want to go home yet they dun know where to go. 1 minute, dun want to go movie, next second, discussing what movie is screening now..... Ai yo, dun know what they want. After a round of Haagen Dazz ice-cream and a stroll to Cairnhill to get a cab home, we continued our meet up over MSN at 1.30am.

This is where our witchery Fifi exorcised her power and created a talisman to ward off all 'xiao ren'.

If you need one, let me know. Witchery Fifi can do one for you.

Spanish Spain Spanish

I'm contemplating to go Spain next year and was looking forward to go for the Spain Workshop for the industry held on Friday morning.

But it's a badly organised one as compared to other NTOs' workshop I attended before. This is strictly in my personal opinion.

The event kick off with a short speech by the country manager of Spain Tourism Board, followed by SIA unveiling their new cabin configuration on Boeing 777-300ER. Ai yo, this one have to wait till you got money dun know where to spend, then - give me lor ............ than spending on SIA 'new' cabin. But give me free ticket on this I never mind lah...hee hee.... It's damn nice but it's also going to be damn expensive. SIA ticket price is already very expensive and this is going to cost 10 - 20% more.

Anyway, dun bother about that. Let's talk about the workshop. It's supposed to be the 1 of the main highlight of the day.

After the speech, we are supposed to visit the tables of the representatives from different Spanish regions or tour / hotel operators. Everyone just flew to the tables to collect freebies and brochures. Me too ! Not knowing exactly where they are from or what's in store for us. I diligently went around the tables to collect informaton booklets on the different parts of Spain. I behaved myself as I knew I represented my company and should always be in my best behaviour. I took freebies only when I'm being offered. At alas ! While walking around, seeing those representatives were busy answering questions from a handful of agents, and giving out brochures and freebies to a hordes of agents at the same time, I noticed some of the trade acquantainces helped themsleves to those freebies hidden in cartons behind the representatives' table. Not one, but a few. I was embarassed ! My goodness ! We have been witnessing these ugly acts during travel fairs and we always gossiping among oursleevs how disgusted we feel whenever people do this kind of things. And right in out own backyard, the trade people are doing this themsleves.

I would have thought they could have given each representative a 15min time to introduce themselves to the audience will be better, as everyone would have a clearer picture. Or like what Fifi suggested, packed all freebies and brochures into a 'goody' bag and give out to everyone.

Fifi and me had the buffet lunch and returned back to (own) office and we are meeting later in the evening again for the 'gala' dinner.

I was assured by Fifi that Gala Dinner hosted by NTOs are not that gala afterall. Trusting her (taking into consideration that is more 'senoir' than me in this industry), I went ahead to RSVP for the dinner. I couldn't back out as much I wanted to, because FIFI insisted I'm the one who conned her to go for the dinner by asking her TWICE !!!! I must confessed. I did ask her twice, because she never give me a clear answer the first time I ask her mah ! Of course ask again lah, hor? Anyway, it doesn't matter as we always 'arrow' each other to ensure there is company mah. Otherwise, so boring if you are there alone. I always don't like to go this kind of function alone as I don't know many people, and I not the kind of person that I will go arounf introducing myself to strangers. I can just retreat standing in once corner smiling to people when walked pass me and casting glances on me. So, I always seek around for companion. So, Fifi and her boss were my companions.

We have given instructions to the organiser that we wanted to sit toghether but all the 'ok ok' ened with empty promises. We were almost separated !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fi's boss suggested I feigned ignorance and 'ganster-ly' just sat with them which I did !!!!! HA HA HA !!!!!!!!!! Fifi and me was DAMMED bloody hungry and they refuses to serve dinner until 9pm. In fact, by Spanish culture, THIS IS EARLY !!!! In Spain, you will not get to start dinner until 11pm, will not finish until 1am and party starts at 2am and spanish only retreat home ater 5am. Eh? Thay don't have to work meh?????

They have flown in chefs to prepare the dinner and flown in spanish wine. I like the dinner especially the main course but the dessert was a letdown. Maybe I don't know how to appreciate such 'arty farty' dessert. Wine was good though. I felt a kind of incomplete in the cuisine as I have sweet tooth and I alway look forward to good desserts. Especially since they put us thru a dun-know-how-long-but-very-long flamenco performance. They did the tapping dancer so well but I just find that it was too long especially they sang the classical spanish song which I thought was the 'calling' from the 'Big Onions' you can always hear daily in the evening (if you are near one).

The dinner finished at 11pm and we were too happy it was finally over. I think I will 'arrow' the next better player next year ! Such good experience nust always share with my wonderful colleagues..... hee hee

Vivo City

I went for facial at Harbourfront yesterday and decided to hop by Vivo City (next door only mah) - the upcoming 'IN' shopping mall in the city !

It is huge indeed. Though some shops are still under renovation, 60% of the retail shops are already opened for business. That's what reported in the newspapers. Not many F & Bs yet some cafes and a new-concept Crystal Jade I found. From what I know, most of the restaurants are located near the waterfront and I can see many renovation are still going on there.

This is going to be my No. 1 shopping mall from now onwards. I'll tell you why.

There are many new brands housed there, though the prices are slightly higher than I can always afford. But it provides alternative selection when you need something different. The newcomers that I can recall are Principle, Trucco, Pull and Bear, Ted Baker, GAP, etc, etc.

The normal brands that you can find also seems different. I cannot help but feel that the shoes and bags selection at Vivo's Charles & Keith looks much wider range, G2000 looks more 'atas' than the rest of the branches. Marks & Spencer and TANGS look different with a wider range. The Marketplace supermarket looks better than the one at Paragon. Is this what people always mean that the pastures out there are always greener?

The whole mall looks like a mini Orchard Road. You can find almost everything housed under one roof, except I didn't see any mass-liked brands yet, Giordana, U2, Bossini, etc. Probably 'akan datang'. There aren't any maps or information boards seen around. Maybe they are waiting for more confirmed tenants to come in as it sounds mre cost-effective to put up these stuffs later when the mall is almost 100% taken up. Nevermind if you lose your way, ask him.

I saw this man in green standing on a small platform and people keep going up to him to ask for directions. Interesting !

Come end of the year, where all the shops and F & Bs outlets are opened, this place is definitely going to take away a slice of business from Orchard Road.

Have you been there yet?

Be there.

The next 'IN' place to be seen.

More Party !!!!!!!! ..................

............. before the boys return on Monday !

A new stall has opened in the food court below our office and has been seeing long queues during lunch everyday. Finally, we decided to have lunch early on Friday and 'die die' wanted to try the new stall. Firstly, we need to know what's so good about this new stall since we are working in the vicinity and secondly, I'm embarking on a health programme tomorrow onwards, so I MUST EAT all the 'heavy duty' food to comfort myself. Ha ha...

Queue was already forming when we went down at 11.30am, but it move fast.

So, what's cooking ? Hokkien Fried Prawn Mee !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look at the whole wok of hokkien mee. The cook actually uses the mini pot to cook as well as to act as a scoop. Minimum $4 but serving is filling and generous. The stall uses the white leaf to hold the noodles and use it to wrap even if you 'tah pau'.

See our happy faces and how we indulge and enjoyed the mee ! The mee will not dry up even the mee turns cold and it is very tasty. Yum Yum !

It's one of our favourite stall now. But if you want to have it, either have early lunch or late lunch. Avoid 12noon to 1.30pm. But good food must wait lah...

Party

Our ex-intern is celebrating her 21st birthday this Saturday at Arawanda Country Club (in Pasir Ris, beside Downtown East).

The boys will just returned from meetings overseas and too tired to attend. Errr.....as for me, it's too far lah. I desperately needed a good 'laze around' weekend. I don't mind going if some of the office gals are going. But apparently, all are not going. ^_^

So, we invited her down to office to celebrate her birthday on Wednesday and gave her the present all of us shared. We had a pizza party and everyone was so FULL !

We got her a Nutella chocolate cake from Polar and it was very nice !

Then we insisted she must gave us 4 numbers and shower some luck for us.

Finally, she finished the lucky dip and gave us 1144. Ha ha ! But we ended up buying not only 1144, and also 9898 (pizza delivery order), 2323 (her chalet's room number) and 1521 (her date of brthday and her age).

Our pizza meal arrived ! We had Oishii Pizza ! It was many of their 1st time to try this brand of pizza. It's Japanese pizza and everyone liked Wasabi Seafood. Very nice ! and it cost $39.90 for a party of 4 to 6 persons. The meal consists of 2 medium-sized (12 inches) pizza, 3 korokke, 3 chicken wings, 1 box of cold tofu and a box of salad. Slurp !

We had a good lunch and Sherri proceeded to go Jurong West to learn Line Dancing as she was 'arrowed' to perform during one of the company's event. She really hated the dance as she think that's for aunties only.

Did we win anything that evening?

Where got......the biggest winner - Singapore Pools lor, who else......

Eddie's Wedding - 7th Oct

Part 2 of 7th Oct.

By the time I reached home, it was almost 4.30pm and I WAS DAMMED BLOODLY TIRED !!!!!!!!!!!!! I quickly popped a Clarinase, wash my face, slacked onto the edge of my bed - refusing to change out of my dress and decided to catched a nap. My brother is coming to fetch me at 7.30pm, which means I make start preparing at 6.30pm.

2 hours of nap really refreshed and rejuvenated me ! I took my time to shower, changed and make up and was ready by 7.20pm, sitting at the sofa waiting for my brother's call. By then, Alvin returned and also getting ready to go for his cousin's wedding.

This was totally the opposite Amy's.

The minute we arrived, we were guided to my cousin (Eddie's younger sister) to check out our table number. She was armed with the relatives' name list and we 'kay poh-ing' who is seating with who.

I saw so many of my relatives that I haven't been seeing them for a long time. (I've been MIA-ing for many years of CNY gatherings, you see) All of us get so excited about each other and start teasing each other like we used to be when younger. I was also caught by surprised that many of my baby cousins outgrowned me by now and some even brought galfrens. Aw.......

This is Sandra. My younger cousin. Sometimes, I called her Xiaoyan, sometimes Yan, or sometimes San. And she knows I'm calling her. We are close since young. Though we seldom keep in touch now, we still can relate to each other whenever we met.

The one in black is another cousin of mine, Kelly. We are also on close terms, just like with San. The boy is her 5 year old son. And the fat fat gal gal is my younger cousin... hee hee....

See ! Isn't he such a handsome boy !

This is my 3rd aunty (my dad's youngest sister). As I grow older and she grow older older, a lot of people and even relatives said I looked like her. Do we? She used to look after us when we are young as our parents were working. She was very very very strict and fierce with us and the whole gang of us (cousins) really don't like her. We are terrified of her. In fact, we hated her ! I can still remember vividly how we scrambled to pretend we were studying when she returned home after work. And the person who always give us 'tip' that she returned is our beloved grandma. Thus, sparing us a lot of scolding and punishment. But as everyone grew up and mature, we understand fully her teaching and upbringing methods. Trufully, I am very grateful to her. Without her, I won't be the person all of you have known today. Therefore, I respected her the most now and forever. In fact, she is closer to us now as she talked and joked with all of us like adults.

The man standing on the extreme right is my 3rd uncle (3rd aunty's hubby). He is a quiet, soft-spoken and humble man. We always thought he is 'eaten' up by my aunty since the day he married her. My aunty is very fierce. Remember? But when my uncle lost his temper, he meant it. Even tiger-mother (my aunty) will become a kitten for once. Hee hee. The other man is their only child. I still remember how we bulled him when he was young. He was anput 4 or 5 years old where we are ranging from 8 to 12 years old. Because our aunty is very strict with us, so whenever we had opportunity, we will make him cry to revenge. Ha Ha, very bad hor? Come to think of it and when we talked about it again, we laughed it off. We are now on good terms and we can click better now as everyone is adult now. Moreover, he has a galfren.

While we were half way through the dinner, 5th uncle suggested to take a (extended) family photo. I was so excited, I tell you..... We have not taken such family photo for donkey years. We started recalling and realised the last time we did that was almost 18 years ago ! I was still a PSLE kid then. We got so excited and cannot stop talking about it.

I will definitely upload that pic when I got it.

After the dinner, San, Kelly and me proceeded for 2nd round. We went for supper but mainly to catch up. It's such a sweet evening.

Amy's Wedding - 7th Oct

I've receive 4 wedding invitations on 7th Oct. The very first one I knew of is the wedding of my good galfren, Amy. She held her wedding in the afternoon, so I can go. Yay ! The second one was from another friend, hee hee, not close at all, so give excuses (true reason in fact), so no need to go !!! The third was reminded twice by my mum-in-law that Alvin's cousin is getting married (Alvin's mum side) As I don't know them well, I'm not so keen but oh well, take it as a duty of a daughter-in-law lor. But ha ha...my mum came to my rescue ! She called me 2 weeks prior to 7th Oct and informed me that my cousin, Eddie is getting married and I am invited to attended the wedding dinner. So happy i can 'siam-ed' Alvin's side and went for my cousin. Naturally, I'm closer to my own relatives. On the other hand, I haven't seen many of my relatives for so long and so bound to look for to such (exended) family gathering.

So, on the 7th Oct, I attended 2 weddings. Despite weddings are happy occasions, 1 left me in dismay and the other with good memories.

I'm supposed to be one of Amy's wedding sisters and I had to arrive at her place by 7.30am as the groom is coming to fetch her at 8am. Okay dokey, I diligently slept the day before at 12 midnight, afriad I'm going to overslept as I was very tired and was not having enough sleep since the week leading to NATAS Travel Fair. But the more you afraid, the more it happened. You bet ! I OVERSLEPT ! You can imagine my horror when I woke up at 7am, screaming at Alvin for causing me to overslept. But as usual, he pretended to be deep asleep.

I showered, changed...but still spend time to put on my make up. Hee hee, I am her 'sisters' mah, so must look good, even I'm late I also don't care....I've already thought of a way to sneak in while doing my make up. I rushed out of the house at 7.40am and catched a cab to Amy's place. On the way, Sunny, our good friend - the photographer of the day, sms-ed me. "Groom arriving at 8.30am".

Eh??? Can 'su-ka su-ka' change auspicious time meh? I wondered. Anyway, better for me. At least not so 'pai-sey' when I arrived. The best part is, Huiyi also overslept and late too. Ai yo, we these 2 'sisters' damm hopeless. Hope Amy is not angry with us.

When I arrived, the makeup artist was finishing Amy's hairdo. I quickly took a pic of my good fren when she changed. Is she beautiful? But she looked tired.

After this, I am appalled by the sudden turn of events and never expected the whole wedding was so unplanned and I am shocked. Still in shock !

By custom, the parents of the bride is supposed to cover the veil to symbolise the daughter turning into adulthood. Amy's mum refused to do it because Amy's dad is already not around. It took some aunties to finally coaxed her to do it 'as it is okay'. Finally an aunty and the mum did it. I was already upset by then as I felt the mum doesn't showed any 'kan cheong' at all. Amy's big day is like just another day of praying to the God's birthday.

See how good Amy look while waiting patiently for the groom.

The groom finally arrived at 8.40am, blaming the driver can't find his house, thus late. We had a little mild 'sabo' game, and let the groom in. The couple forgotten to wear their wedding rings and I frantically looked for it in the cabinet. Then suddenly, some aunties said 9am is not a good time to 'marry off' so we have to wait till 10am. WHAT ! We were puzzled. Can you imagine the groom and his 'brothers' loitering around doing nothing for more than 1 hour and the bride and the 'sisters' had to keep each other entertained. See what we are doing.....

We opened up the 'open door' ang pow whivh we haggled from $48 to $168....hee hee

Huiyi playing with Sunny's camera....

As Amy had not 'see' any auspicious hour before so we think she should not follow because if you want to follow, then you have to do it all the way.

During this time, the gang were still discussing should they return to Amy's place later or not. I couldn't help but feel sorry for my friend. Suddenly, I became the unofficial bridesmaid as we found out no one is actually helping Amy's with her gown. When we reached the groom's place, I became the unoffcial tea holder they the couple serve tea to the elders. Huiyi became the unofficial person to keep the ang pow and gold on Amy's behalf. We left with 20mins' time and it was only in the lift that I realised Amy did not change her jewellery to '4-piece gold' given by her mum-in-law when she left the place. Amy told me that the '4-piece gold' is alredy at her place. I had to mindfully explained to her the significance of wearing the '4-piece gold' when she left the in-laws' place to return to her mum's place.

At this point of time, I was really feeling disappointed by the whole arrangement. What are the elders doing/ Why they didn't remind the youngsters on the proper procedure of a customary wedding? If they are really so 'chin chye' then why have a customary wedding. Although I hate those 'leh chey' formalities, but I beleive if you want to do it, you must do it properly and do it right. If you are going to do it half-heartedly, then don't do it.

When we returned back to Amy's place, no one, I repeat again - no one give a damm to the couple at all. They behaved as if Amy returned home after a normal day's of work. Her brother continued to played their games as if the rest of the people and what's going on is non-existent. Amy's mum poured own tea for the couple to serve her. I couldn't carry on to look at it anymore and volunteered to do the job once more. Throughout the 15mins, in the house, both brothers did not even bother to turn around to see what's going on, let alone offer help.

Finally, we left for Amy's own place in Buangkok. Wow.....a 'kampung' I would describe it. She held her lunch buffet and waited for guests to come. By then, I knew she is very hungry and offered her food. Hee hee...see what I feed Amy...ROAST PIG !!!!!

Ha ha...look at my Amy's 'unglam' pics.

hee hee...Amy will kill me if she knows.

We entertained ourselves while enjoying the lunch as 3 of us were super hungry and woffled down 2 serving each. HA HA !

As I suddenly developed sinus and decided to retreat home early to rest, I couldn't help but feel sorry for my friend. I feel she don't deserve this type of wedding arrangement and treatment at all. I absolutely upset.

Despite all this, it's just my own thoughts. May might not mind the whole turnout of the day at all. Nevertheless, I hope my good fren has a wonderful time on one of her most important days in her life. And I send my best blessing to the couple.

What a Hazy Day

I didn't realise the haze was so bad until I was on my way home just now.

It was sunny this morning and I holed up the whole day in the office. Although it wasn't sunny, I thought it was just another cloudy day. How wrong I was !

I can literally smelled smoke in the air. The sky was red in colour, the moon is orange colour, covered with a layer of misty smoke. And today is Mooncake Festival which I like to call it the Lantern Festival. One of my colleagues even went to Chinese Garden to enjoy the giant lanterns of 7 Wonders of the World. I'm wondering now she is there to enjoy the lanterns or enjoying the haze....

How I wish a downpour will come and bring down the haze.

See the orange dot? That's the moon on a lunar 8th month, 15th day. Let me zoom in to show you an orange moon.

It was so terrible ! It never has been so bad before despite there is haze from Indonesia every year. I can't even see some of the buildings and hotel clearly.

If the haze going to be like this situation for the next few days, I think many people are going to take MC lor.

But I can't take MC ! Remember, all the men in my offices are away next week?

Fifi has got it right lor. my dear boss never 'let us off' even though he is overseas. And this time it is even more frequent. Maybe,

1) he is bored;
2) he doesn't like the destination at all;
3) he's getting jittery because of the global meeting where you may be summoned out to give a report of your market anytime lor.....

Well, maybe it is all of the above.

My mobile rung with smses almost non-stop the minute he got off the plane.

First, reported arrived liao and waiting for transfer; then complained the distance between the airport and hotel very far; then ask about sales figures; then ask got business today or not; then complained cannot sign in pacnet; then complained weather hot and humid; then text to ask BDM to bring polo t-shirts for him. I got to go and buy as company polo t-shirts ran out of his size. Lastly, complained hotel nearby no food.

Ai yo ! See? This is my boss. Very drama lor..... It must be all of the above reasons that tiggered his sms-ing frantically. But smses stopped by about 6.30pm (SIN time). And I can only suggest that his mobile phone run low of battery.

Well, in fact, I'm used to it already. I've been working for him for almost 2 years so I know most of his patterns already lor. Hopefully, my BDM can keep him entertained from Sunday onwards so that he will spared me some of the smses. Ha ha !

But I know, he will sure send me mms of those beautiful islands of Greece to make me drool. Hmpf ! :<
